Last week, free computer classes for OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) and their dependents were launched in Manila. Known as the Tulay program, it was launched at the (OWWA) Overseas Workers' Welfare Administration's Blas F. Ople Development Center building located at Intramuros, Manila.
After the launching, some members of the media and bloggers were invited to a dinner sponsored by the Blas F. Ople Foundation to introduce the Tulay program and some of the recent graduates from the CARAGA region and Davao City.
I personally met other bloggers and three graduates of the Tulay program- Elisa Moran, Lilybeth Deronia and Lola Buhay Tan. I was very much encouraged by Lola Buhay's experience especially because she was the most senior among the graduates at eighty-three years old. She is a testimony of the fact that we are never too old to learn something new.
The Tulay program, which is a joint partnership of Microsoft and the Blas F. Ople Foundation who, is a computer literacy program which is available to OFWs and their immediate relatives or dependents and can be easily availed by contacting the nearest OWWA regional office and signing up.
